Kate Moss on May 2011 Magazine Covers

A well-known fashion face will appear on at least three magazine covers for the May 2011 editions. Both Vogue Japan (née Vogue Nippon) and UK Harper's Bazaar have chosen Kate Moss as their leading lady for May, but they have captured her in two completely different settings. The cover for Vogue Japan is shot by Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott. Kate wears the famous Chanel feather dress from the S/S 2011 collection, which is described as a "quivering cloud of apricot feathers" by Tim Blanks. Styled together with tight, back-combed hair and bright red lips, it makes up a strong statement cover.

UK Harper's Bazaar has opted for a softer and more gentle Kate. Two covers have been made in the honour of Alexander McQueen and the upcoming exhibition, Savage Beauty, at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. In the first cover, Kate wears a white dress from Sarah Burton's first collection for Alexander McQueen. The second shows Kate in the iconic ruffled organza dress she wore for the famous hologram video from Alexander McQueen's A/W 2006 show. Both covers are shot by Sølve Sundsbø.

Nicole Richie in Marchesa

In the editorial, She's In Control, in the spring/summer 2011 issue of The Block magazine, Nicole wears this gorgeous Marchesa dress from their S/S 2011 collection. The photo is shot by photographer Hugh Lippe, and styled by James Worthington DeMolet. Nicole Richie has worn Marchesa several times - the most memorable being her exquisite wedding gown in December last year. What always hits me when I see Nicole in Marchesa, is how much she resembles a fairy tale princess - she carries the dresses with such poise and elegance.

Colour Blocking: Pink and Green

Mixing bright colours is a major trend this season. This makes me so happy as I am visioning my whole town walking around in colour blocked outfits for summer, though that is not likely to happen. I am gathering a lot of inspiration as I know that I will be wearing a lot of colour this spring and summer.

Emily, from the blog Cupcakes and Cashmere, posted photos of herself wearing this gorgeous, flirty and inspiring outfit. The hot pink skirt and the kelly green striped top work so good together. You wouldn't necessarily think of teaming these two colours together, but it's often that the unexpected works out for the best.

Modern Warrior

In the March 2011 issue of Harper's Bazaar Korea, photographer Dancian has shot a wonderful editorial called Modern Warrior. Ruby Aldridge, styled by Mirim Lee, only wears pieces from the Spring/Summer 2011 collection by Burberry Prorsum - a collection that I am head over heels in love with. I am especially obsessed with the studded leather jacket in the first photo. It must be the queen of all leather jackets. If I owned it (I wish!), I would wear it with everything and never ever take it off. It might be a bit uncomfortable sleeping in it though...

Simplistic, Chic and Sexy

Coco Chanel once said: "Women think of all colours except the absence of colour. I have said that black has it all. White too. Their beauty is absolute. It is the perfect harmony." This is what I think of Liv Tyler's outfit - perfect harmony.

Many think that an all-black outfit is boring, but I believe that your true creative side can shine bright through such an outfit. Liv Tyler's outfit is a perfect example of this. Her cigarette pants and tuxedo jacket are so well tailored - it looks as if they have been made for exactly Liv's body. Also, I love the detailing of her top - so subtle, so chic and so sexy with the see-through back. The Louboutin heels are the icing on the cake.

Do you like simplistic outfits like this one? Or do you think it's boring?

White for Summer

White, and preferably all-white, is a major trend for the S/S 2011 season. Editorials with this theme has been seen in many fashion magazines lately, and one of the latest editorials is shot by Camilla Akrans (my favourite fashion photographer!) for the April issue of Harper's Bazaar US. Model Toni Garrn wears white, dreamy summer pieces by Dolce & Gabbana, Chanel and Rick Owens. All these pieces would be perfectly welcome in my summer 2011 wardrobe, merci.

Streetstyle Saturday

In these streetstyle photos, it seems as if I my inspiration is stuck in winter. Most of the outfits consist of large and warm coats, and even though I feel that these should be packed away soon, I just can't help but  post these anyway. I especially love the coats teamed together with maxi skirts - a bit of winter and summer mixed into one. Also, I love love LOVE the last outfit - that is the perfect summer outfit.

Which is your favourite/favourites?

Interview with Modette.no

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Recently, I was interviewed for the newly launched fashion website in Norway, modette.no. It hasn't been up and running for too long, but I can say that I already love it. The interview is in Norwegian, so I am guessing it might be a tad difficult for my non-Norwegian readers to get much reason out of it, but feel free to check it out HERE

The Perfect Knitwear

As I live in a part of the world which gets quite cold, knitwear is essential for me. I get quite picky when it comes to my knitwear, though. It needs to be warm, without being too huge and bulky, and it needs to have a slight vintage feel to it. No one ever said I was an easy shopper! These two jumpers fit my criterions perfectly.

Hanneli Mustaparta wears a gorgeous brown and mustard yellow jumper by Stella McCartney. I love the 70s colour combination, and it is also the perfect kind of bulky. Hanneli has the best wardrobe. She has also taken this photo below of Geraldine Saglio in a lovely dark green jumper by Celine. I adore this jumper because of her whole look - the belt, the watch and the clutch - which makes it into such a desirable outfit.

When talking about Hanneli, it is worth mentioning that she has been featured in Vogue.com's "5 days. 5 looks. 1 girl". Check it out HERE.

Rings and Other Things

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

My favourite accessory are rings, followed by bracelets as a close second. It does not come as a surprise that I fell in love with this photo at first sight. The one thing that really caught my eye is this girl's Double Cage sterling silver ring by Pamela Love. I have a ring collection that just keeps on growing, and I am perfectly sure that this ring would be very welcome in my huge ring family. The more, the merrier!

I have also got my heart set on Pamela Love's Tribal Spike sterling silver collection. This bracelet and this ring are both fantastic. When I look at them, I start to imagine all the wonderful ways to wear them - there's no end to the combinations. I always get like this when it comes to ethnic- and tribal jewelry. Oh, I love it so!

David Sims Shoots for Vogue Paris

Looking through the Fashion Spot pages, I came across this editorial shot by David Sims for the April issue of Paris Vogue. Okay, I have to admit that I didn't "just come across it", as my first priority is almost always to check out the Paris Vouge threads. At the moment, I am just so excited to see what Emmanuelle Alt has done with her first issue as editor-in-chief. This editorial, Wanted, featuring Isabeli Fontana is so strong and so powerful, and it shows off her talent, David Sim's skills as a photographer and Emmanuelle Alt's great eye as a stylist all in this one editorial. These are my three favourite shots:

Alexa Chung in Burberry Prorsum

I have such a big thing for leather jackets. Especially leather jackets from Burberry Prorsum, and more specifically the jackets that were seen in their S/S 2011 collection. I wonder, is it possible not to love them? Alexa Chung is certainly not one of them, if there any at all. She has secured herself this gorgeous black quilted leather biker jacket, and I am extremely jealous.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

The thing I love about leather jackets is that they are so versatile, and they work with almost anything. I especially like the way it can add to great contrasts, for example by teaming it with a sweet, romantic dress as seen in the Burberry Prorsum show.

How do you like to wear your leather jacket?

Ps. Alexa is not the only one who has been seen in this jacket. Sienna Miller was also seen wearing it last Thursday in London. See her look HERE.

Zoo Magazine #30 Spring 2011 Covers

Zoo Magazine is out with four different covers for their spring 2011 issue, and they are all very remarkable in their own ways. The first cover shows model Dree Hemingway (I love her!) photographed by Philip Gay. She is wearing a Jil Sander dress from the S/S 2011 collection, which has already been seen on Kate Bosworth a while back.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Actor Danny Trejo, wearing a Maison Martin Margiela leather jacket, is the only non-model that is featured on the covers. The black and white cover is shot by Bryan Adams. At first, I found this cover to be the odd one out, and in many ways it still is, but the more I look at it, the more I love how it contrasts to the others.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Bryan Adams has also shot the third cover for Zoo Magazine which features Angela Lindvall in a hot pink top by Lanvin. Somehow, I get a 50s housewife feel when I look at it without really knowing why. I am guessing it has something to with the tall, sprayed hair, the baby pink earrings and her "I may look innocent, but I certainly ain't" look.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

The fourth and last cover features model Diana Dondoe in an incredible Bottega Veneta jumpsuit, photographed by Laetitia Negre. The black and white photo, the leather gloves and Dondoe's confident stare into the camera gives it the femme fatale vibe.

Saturday Streetstyle

I am so sorry that this post is a bit on the late side. It is difficult to handle ten different things at the same time, but luckily I found the time to do the weekly "Saturday Streetstyle" post. This week, I found so many good ones so therefore I am bombarding you with photos, but I know that you love the inspiration. Also, I would like to apologize for not being the best blogger this week - better posts will be in store for next week and I will also answer your comments and e-mails. Enjoy your weekend!
