Daphne Groeneveld Covers Vogue Japan August 2011

When it comes to magazine covers, there are two magazines that I always wait for in anticipation. These two are Vogue Paris and Vogue Japan. The reasons: loving Vogue Paris is an old habit that I can not, and will never, shake off, while Vogue Japan excites me with its unexpected turns and twists - I never now what they'll do next. For the August issue, Vogue Japan has put model Daphne Groeneveld on the cover in a Miu Miu dress from the A/W 2011 collection, teamed with a brown fur "belt" and large turquoise earrings. The cover is so fresh, fun and head-turning - definitely something I would pick up at the newsstand! The cover is shot by Mario Sorrenti, and styled by George Cortina.

Lucy Williams by Vanessa Jackman

The amazing and talented photographer, Vanessa Jackman, recently posted photos from a shoot she did with the lovely Lucy Williams for Grazia. Lucy Williams, a fashion and beauty assistant for stylus.com, has such a laidback and cool personal style which Jackman has captured perfectly in these images. I am obsessing over those light pink shorts by Isabel Marant - they are the must-have item for summer!

And last, but not least, I have to post this collage of several details from Lucy Williams' home. They serve for excellent inspiration as I am in the process of decorating my new apartment at the moment. I have been wanting a skull sculpture for quite some, but only in clear glass. However, black doesn't seem such a bad idea either!

It Is All In The Details

When in need of some style inspiration, one of my go-to websites is Stockholm Streetstyle. There are always so many fantastic, exciting and gorgeous outfit combinations to find there, and I often find myself discovering new ways to experiment with clothes after a visit there. My newest source of inspiration is this outfit. The very cropped leather jacket teamed together with that white maxi-dress with a low cut back is such a well thought-out detail. And ughhh, I am so in love with her jewelry!

No. 21 Resort 2012

Aren't these pieces just gorgeous?! I am so in love with the No.21 Resort 2012 collection. The dresses are perfect for both lazy summer days and more dressy holiday parties, and the knits are lovely for those slightly chilly evenings. I think my favourite piece from the collection has to be that luscious green maxi dress. The back is just stunning, don't you think? I also really like the combination of that sand-coloured dress and the light blue clutch.

Blake Lively in Chanel Couture Spring 2009

On Wednesday, Blake Lively turned up at the premiere of "Green Lantern" in a white dream of a couture dress designed by Chanel. The dress is from the spring 2009 couture collection. I find Blake stunningly beautiful in it, but I can't help but think that it is a bit too dressed up for a movie premiere. Then again, why shouldn't she wear Chanel at every possible occasion when Karl Lagerfeld showers her with Chanel pieces? Ahh, to be so lucky!

Gwyneth Paltrow in Alexander Wang Resort 2012

Last night, Gwyneth Paltrow attended the 3rd Annual Bent on Learning Benefit in New York City. For the benefit, she wore an Alexander Wang dress fresh from the Resort 2012 collection. As I am a huge Alexander Wang fan, I was extremely happy to see this piece so quickly after it was seen on the runway. I wouldn't have guessed that Gwyneth Paltrow would be the first one to be seen in it, but seeing it on print proves that this is a perfect match.

I really love how Gwyneth Paltrow has been dressing these last years. She always looks stunning at events, and she oozes of chic and minimalistic elegance. Her outfits are never too over-the-top, but that is what I really like as she always looks glamorous and amazing without seeming to have tried too hard.

Red Suit & Pink Lips

The colours red and pink are considered a big fashion faux-pas when mixed together, but when looking at these images of Lily Donaldson in a red suit and with light pink, almost neon, lips, one can't help but question this claim. Because how can something so wrong look so good?! All I know is that I find this combination so original and exciting, and I want to see much more of it. The look is put together by Darcy Backlar, and the photos are shot by Matt Irwin, for Muse #26 Summer 2011.

Elin Kling and her Amazing Style

A few days ago, Swedish style blogger Elin Kling posted these outfit photos on her blog. I will not even start to rant on about this outfit as it speaks for itself. Well, let me rant a little bit - this is one of my favourite Elin Kling outfits ever, and that says a lot as I find almost anything and everything that Elin wears inspiring. The leather jacket on her shoulders is such a good detail, and I need those TopShop pants desperately.

Sequins, Stars & Skulls

Anyone who's been reading Style Spot for a while knows how much I love sequins. Yesterday, I even ordered a silver sequined pillow case for my new living room. Therefore, I absolutely adore this first look from the editorial "Bagno A Ripoli" styled by Caroline Blomst and photographed by Daniel Troyse for LUISAVIAROMA. What makes me love it even more is the way it is teamed with a scarf by Alexander McQueen. I have been meaning to get myself one of those scarves for ages, and now might just be the time to do so.

Also, I could not help falling in love with this look below. The star-printed pieces that Dolce & Gabbana showed off in their A/W 2011 collection have been growing more and more on me each day. The print looks especially good next to a simple, elegant blouse such as this white one by Balmain. Gahh, I really love this look, and I really want to wear something similar right now.

Stella McCartney Resort 2012 Collection

Yesterday, Stella McCartney showed off her anticipated Resort 2012 collection in New York, and boy, was it a good one! One of Stella McCartney's design characteristics is her simplistic, and almost masculine, well-tailored pieces which are never difficult to spot in her collections. This time, it's especially the tailored jacket that stands out and grabs a lot of attention. These are pieces that are timeless, and that is why I am so big on Stella McCartney's designs - you can wear them with anything, as they are so chic and simple, and they never go out of fashion.

When asked about this collection, Stella McCartney said: "There's a lot of versatility; that's what's nice about a Resort collection. You don't have to be so controlled. You can give a lot of different people a lot of different things and not be afraid to do that."

What do you think of this Resort collection? And don't you just love the look in photo no. 3? I do!

Jessica Stam's Apartment

At the moment, I am in the process of moving to a new apartment which I am head over heels in love with. For the past few months, I have been searching the internet for great interior sites and inspiring images of living rooms, bedrooms and kitchens. One of my main sources of inspiration has been these photos of Jessica Stam's East Village apartment. Or, to be exact, one of my main sources for my ultimate interior dream; the incredible Maroccan door. I would give so much to have that door in my apartment, but even though I don't, I am still planning a Jessica Stam inspired vibe for the new place; a mix of Maroccan elements together with more simple and glamorous pieces.

Beyoncé for Dazed & Confused July 2011

I have a serious crush on this cover of Beyoncé for the July issue of Dazed & Confused. She looks so good in this look from Givenchy's A/W 2011 collection - it is as if it was made specially for her. Also, the baby pink, melting ice cream is such a fun element to add, and it works so good for the photo as a whole. In general, I am loving many of Beyoncé's fashion looks at the moment; her video for "Run the world" is filled with great looks by Alexander McQueen, Emilio Pucci and Givenchy.

Stylenanda: The Perfect Basics

These images (from the webshop Stylenanda) have been circulating in the blogosphere for quite some time now, and it is not that hard to understand why. If I could only choose one piece to buy, I would have an extremely hard time choosing. All the pieces are wonderful, and so incredibly versatile. I am so weak for great basic pieces, and these are some of the best I have seen for a long, looong time.

Summer Must-Have: The Light Lace Dress

When I think of essentials for a summer wardrobe, the light lace dress instantly comes to mind. I can not think of any other piece of clothing that is more girly, flirty or summery than this type of dress. Dolce & Gabbana's S/S 2011 collection was filled with the most dreamy lace dresses I have ever seen, and has sparked the need for such dresses even more for this season. One of my favourite inspirations when it comes to wearing a lace dress, is this outfit worn by Chanel Iman. I love, love, love the bohemian details such as the floppy hat, the light brown bag and heels and that lovely necklace. This is the perfect outfit for a festival!

Chloë Sevigny has opted for a slightly different and more contrasting look with this outfit. Her cute, crisp and white lace dress stands out against her black, chunky shoes. The flaming, red lipstick is such a great detail against the black/white combination. They don't call Chloë Sevigny a style icon for nothing!

Is the lace dress an essential piece in your summer wardrobe? If so, how do you style it?

Hailey Clauson by Sebastian Kim for Numéro #124

I find these two images from Numéro #124 so mesmerizing. I love how photographer Sebastian Kim has captured Hailey Clauson with his lens - as a tribal woman with a modern twist. The photos gleam of ferocious instincts and of nature elements, but together with the stunning Burberry Prorsum studded jacket (photo no.1) and the gorgeous dress by Christian Dior (photo no.2) it oozes of elegance and luxury. I applaud stylist Charles Varenne for his talent of combining these two very contrasting elements so perfectly!

The images made me instantly think about Lykke Li's music video for her song "Get Some". Lykke Li is one my favourite artists, both when it comes to music and vision. If you haven't seen the video before, watch it, and if you have, watch it again. It is so brilliant.
